MSNBC isn’t too happy with its senior political analyst Mark Halperin. Halperin, a broadcast veteran, had strong opinions about President Obama, and was goaded into using a common word to describe Obama’s at a recent news event.
The word in question is four letters, and begins with the fourth letter of the alphabet.
In an exchange on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Halperin hinted that he language he was reserving, however co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski dragged it out of him.
For reasons unknown they promised him there was a broadcast delay, and that he had nothing to fear.
“Are we on the seven-second delay today?” Halperin asked, prior to describing a Wednesday news conference by President Obama.
“I want to characterize how I thought the president behaved,” Halperin said.
No sooner did Halperin use the word and Scarborough recoiled in astonishment. “Oh, my God! Delay that! Delay that! What are you doing? I can’t believe you. I was joking! Don’t do that. Did we delay that?”
If Scarborough had to ask, it would seem he wasn’t very confident in the system he assured would protect Halperin, nor was he practicing a level of responsibility to which Halperin is being held.
MSNBC later released the following statement about Halperin’s suspension:
“Mark Halperin’s comments this morning were completely inappropriate and unacceptable. We apologize to the President, The White House, and all of our viewers. We strive for a high level of discourse and comments like these have no place on our air. Therefore, Mark will be suspended indefinitely from his role as an analyst.”
