Mormon NBC TV station refuses to broadcast “The Playboy Club”

kslimage444.jpg KSL, in Salt Lake City, vows not broadcast one of NBC’s newest dramas for the upcoming television season.   NBC’s “The Playboy Club” is a fictional representation of an exclusive club that once existed in Chicago.

KSL, is an NBC affiliate which is owned by Bonneville International.  That company is operated by the Church of Jesus Chris of Later Day Saints.  pbclubksl444.jpg

KSL President and CEO Mark Willes said, “The Playboy brand is known internationally. Everyone is clear what it stands for. We want to be sure everyone is clear what the KSL brand stands for, which is completely inconsistent with the Playboy brand.”

The decision by KSL is consistent with other conservative business strategies.  KSL It does broadcast NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” which is strongly identified with the network and its affiliates.
