Locally UC Riverside’s Chancellor Tim White isn’t exactly invisible, especially on campus, where he lives and works. In fact his tall stature and friendly nature cause him to stand out in a crowd.
When the CBS program “Undercover Boss” approached UCR about being featured on the show, Chancellor White agreed, and that started the challenge of disguising him.
The premise of the program is to take executives, and have them work undercover with their employees. Often the exchanges are ironic and amusing.
The restaurant Baja Fresh was once used to see how its boss did as a new employee. The programs conclude with the revelation of the role reversal.
For three years Chancellor White has led UCR with a consistent look and style, but in promotional segments being broadcast this week, White is seen with cropped hair, a mustache– even false teeth. In disguise, for one episode, he takes on the tasks of his staffers.
The UCR episode will be the season finale, airing in prime time at 9:00 p.m. Pacific and 8:00 p.m. central Sunday, May 1 on CBS, according to UCR.
