Riverside’s Audio Shoppe has a long history in Riverside. In 1984 is opened on Merrill Avenue. It was founded by Alan Hickman.
Today the Audio Shoppe is at 6760 Central Avenue. Hickman is a 4th- generation Riversider. In September 2007 he moved to a 9,000 sq. ft. building on Central Avenue.
Alan Hickman started working at SpeakerCraft. Two years later he opened Audio Shoppe on Merrill Avenue.
For inspiration, Alan credits his dad, who was a professional NHRA drag race team owner.
Hickman’s passion has caught the attention of celebrities looking for after market sound systems.
Billy Gibbons, of ZZ Top, is one of his customers. Gibbons has a 58’ T Bird. Hickman’s even credited with a special sound system for a version of Barbie’s 50th birthday VW Beetle.
Other projects include Chip Foose’s 69’ R/S Camero, So Cal Speed Shop’s Mystery Coupe, and work on a 69’ Hemi Charger for ‘Chop Cut Rebuild’, broadcast on Speed Vision.
Audio Shoppe also make custom-sound systems for sandrails, golf carts, boats– even home theater and outdoor audio.
“You can even bring your mom’s Cutlass Supreme,” said Hickman.
