Floyd Preston Staples October 6, 1942 - November 25, 2010
Floyd (commonly known as Preston) was born to Lucille Ida Parker (Staples) and Floyd Preston Staples Sr. on October 6, 1942.
Preston graduated from Duquesne high School in Duquesne, PA. where he was involved in various activities including basketball. After graduation, Preston enlisted in the US Navy, where he served honorably for 4 years and continued his service to our country in the National Reserves in Westwood, California for over 20 years.
Preston loved sports and he especially enjoyed watching and cheering on his beloved Los Angeles Lakers. Before his untimely death, Preston took pleasure in his employment at Compton Unified School District where he worked in Security.
Preceding him in death are his parents: Lucille Ida Parker (Staples) and Floyd Preston Staples Sr. two siblings: Daryl Staples and Viola Cookie Staples.
Preston leaves to cherish his memory: his three sons, Terry Philen Martin of Pittsburgh, PA, Rodney Gerald Freeman of Inglewood, CA, and Wayne Henry Staples of Los Angeles, CA. Three brothers: Lorris Wayne Staples, Claude Henry Staples and Floyd Derek Staples; seven grandchildren: Ryan Aiello Freeman, Amir Martin, Jahmonah Martin, Hassan Martin, James Staples, Zyare Martin, and Zaya Staples; one Great Grandson: Paris Wellons and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Floyd will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA, 92518.
