Teenager in costume seriously injured in hit-and-run crash in Riverside

Halloween news headline from the Riverside Police Department:

On Sunday, October 31, at approximately 7:37 p.m. the police received numerous calls of a hit-and-run accident in the area of Jamestown and Lincoln Avenue.

Officers responded to the location and found a female, 14, in a Halloween costume unconscious on the roadway.  Witnesses told the officers that the victim was crossing the street when she was struck by a silver pick-up truck which fled the scene after the impact.

Witnesses advised that the truck did not brake or slow down prior to or after the collision.

The victim was transported by American Medical Response to an area hospital and is listed in guarded condition with a head injury and broken bones.
