Two small earthquakes happened in the Riverside County desert Thursday. The first, at 11:09 a.m., the epicenter was Banning, according to the USGS. It was 1.6 in magnitude.
A second, 1.2 magnitude quake happened in Borrego Springs at 12:04 p.m.
