Students at California Baptist University return after crash that killed their coach

The surviving California Baptist University students returning to Riverside after a deadly trip to the Eastern Sierra.

California Baptist University’s Wendy Rice died after a collision between a CBU van and an SUV in Mammoth. Rice, 35, of Corona, was with several cheer-team members of the Riverside-based private college.

The student teams were in the eastern Sierra Nevada region for a training camp. Rice was driving a van that was struck by an SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol. In addition to Rice, two passengers in the SUV also perished.
