Riverside police watch for people at freeway on-and-off ramps

On Wednesday August 25, officers from the Riverside Police Department North Neighborhood Policing Center coordinated a traffic safety operation throughout the City of Riverside.  This effort focused on pedestrians who were impeding vehicular traffic on or near the freeway on and off ramps.

Officers from the East, Central and West Neighborhood Policing Centers assisted with the operation.  During a two-hour period, one subject was arrested for a felony warrant, three for misdemeanor warrants and four subjects were issued citations for California Vehicle Code violations.

The purpose of this program was to bring awareness to the public and increase the level of traffic safety. The Riverside Police Department plans to continue its efforts to promote and encourage traffic safety.  Future enforcement efforts are
planned.
