Dolores Green, Executive Director of Riverside County Medical Association, hosted the second annual summer gala for the American Cancer Society’s Inland Empire Area Office. The event was held Saturday evening at the Victoria Country Club, in Riverside.

The theme of the gala was Fighting Together for More Birthdays, and included a silent auction and live auction. Roughly 250 people attended the event. Live auction items raised more than $5000 in bids.

One of the big items of the evening was a framed-and-autographed Kobe Bryant Jersey, offered by Riverside Medical Clinic. When the bidding was over it sold for $1200. A miniature Mercedes pedal car sold for $800. “We had 150 silent auction items too,” said Cindy Hall, Community Service Director for the American Cancer Society, for the Inland Empire region.

The money helps fund the American Cancer Society’s programs, which provide information and emotional support for cancer patients, and their families.

“Far too many of my friends have had cancer,” Green said in a press release. “But our event is here to raise funds so our neighbors in the Inland Empire can stay well or get well, and so that the American Cancer Society can find cures and we can fight back against cancer!”
