On Tuesday, August 10, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved several fee increases to animal-control related fees.
The cost of a dog license for an altered dog will go from $8 to $16. The cost of a license for an unaltered (or “intact”) dog will go from $50 to $100, as recommended by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services.
The fee changes do not go into effect until October 1, and they only affect people living in unincorporated Riverside County.
The Board also approved an increase in spay and neuter fees. The new fee for a cat spay or neuter surgery is $40, up from $35. The new for a dog spay or neuter surgery is $85, up from $75. These fee increases also do not go into effect until October 1.
“These are believed to be the first changes in the county’s dog-license charges in more than a decade,” said Animal Services Director Robert Miller in a press release. “Dog license fees go directly to the care and well being to the stray animals living in Riverside County.”
