Redlands DUI checkpoint southbound lane of Cajon Street, south of Cypress Avenue

News headline from the Redlands Police Department:

The Redlands Police Department will conduct a grant-funded sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint at 10:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, until 3:00 a.m., Saturday in the southbound lane of Cajon Street, south of Cypress Avenue.

Officers will screen drivers passing through the checkpoint for sobriety and for a valid driver’s license. Drivers found to be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs will be arrested, and unlicensed drivers may be cited and their vehicles may be impounded.

The Redlands Police Department will also conduct four DUI Saturation Patrols beginning at 10:00 p.m. Saturday, August. 21, through 3:00 a.m. Sunday Augist, 22.

“DUI arrests can be embarrassing and expensive, but they’re easy to prevent,” said Sgt. Ricky Smith. “Plan to have a designated sober driver and avoid the embarrassing DUI arrest.

Funding for this checkpoint comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
