1960 stock certificates discovered from former Murrieta Mutual Water Company

stockcertificates22.jpgStock certificates, representing Riverside’s past, are on display.

They are original documents from Murrieta Mutual Water Company, a now defunct local agency, that preceded many current water districts serving the Southwest Riverside County region.

Western Municipal Water District’s board Vice President Brenda Dennstedt presented the stock certificates last week to the Murrieta City Council.

Mayor Kelly Bennett and Loretta McKinney, Director of Library Services, accepted the nearly 700 stock certificates.

The stocks will be on display in the Heritage Room of the library located at 24700 Adams Avenue, in Murrieta.

The Murrieta Mutual Water Company was founded in the 1960s.  The first stock issuance is dated February 7, 1964 and continues into the 1970’s with each share set at $200.
