News headline from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department:

Friday night the Lake Elsinore Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver’s License/Safety Checkpoint on Riverside Drive and Lakeside High School in Lake Elsinore.  The checkpoint was in operation from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

During the operating hours of the checkpoint, approximately 1,155 vehicles were screened.  Of these vehicles, approximately 98 were diverted into the secondary screening area. As a result of this program:

Atanasio Lino, 46, of Lake Elsinore; Arrested for DUI
David Travers, 52, of Lake Elsinore; Arrested for DUI

Additionally, 34 citations were issued for various Vehicle Code violations, 16 vehicles were towed or impounded due to the operators being unlicensed or driving on a suspended license, six people were given field sobriety tests, one person was arrested for a domestic battery warrant.
