On Saturday, August 21, at around 11:30 a.m., officers from the Indian Wells Police Department were called to the Renaissance Esmeralda Hotel in Indian Wells, on reports of a drowning child.

A five-year-old child was found unresponsive in one of the hotel pools. Several hotel guests performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

The child was taken to Eisenhower Medical Center and later transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center.  He is in critical condition.
