Thick smoke filled the area around Eucalyptus and University Avenues, near downtown Riverside, Monday evening.  A fire, first reported around 6:40 p.m., destroyed a home on University Avenue

The building is near Zacateca’s Cafe.  Several city fire trucks were on scene, and surrounding streets were closed.

There were no reports of injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
