Mark your calendar and make your reservations for Indio — dates have been announced for the 2011 versions of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and its country cousin, the Stagecoach Festival.
The internationally renowned Coachella — which this past spring featured more than 100 acts including Jay-Z and Gorillaz — returns to Empire Polo on April 15-17.
This will be the fifth year country, bluegrass, folk, roots rock and alt-country acts will gather for at Stagecoach; traditionally held on the weekend following Coachella, in 2011 the festival will be April 30-May 1.
Information on lineups and ticket sales has not been announced for either event, but are expected by year’s end.
Promoter Goldenvoice held its first eclectic indie-rock fest on the picturesque Coachella Valley polo-field setting in 1999; the 2010 edition sold out, drawing more than 75,000 a day — despite the fact that a number of acts and concertgoers were stuck in Europe after an Icelandic volcano interruped international air traffic.
