The San Bernardino County Library has added Mango Languages, a free language-learning system, to its online electronic resources.
Mango Languages can help people learn a number of different languages, such as Spanish, French, Japanese, German, and more. It also provides English as a Second Language (ESL) lessons for people not native to English.
The Mango Languages addition was made possible by the Inland Library System (ILS), a network of 19 public library systems.
“ILS is proud to offer this excellent resource to the patrons of our member libraries, and soon there’ll be a Mango App, so learning a newlanguage can happen anywhere you and your smart phone might be,” said Susan Erickson, Executive Director of ILS, in a press release.
Erickson notes that in the first couple weeks of the system being available, without any publicity, already 400 library users have gotten started on different languages.
Library users can get started by simply clicking on the Mango logo on the library’s home page. Registration takes about two minutes, and users can start right away.
