News reporter Daniel Schorr died Friday, he was 93. Schorr built a name for himself, and CBS News, while covering President Richard Nixon.
His reports, which Nixon disliked, earned Schorr a spot on Nixon’s widely reported “enemies list.”
Schoor started with CBS News in 1953, during the time when the network was a dominant force in broadcast news in the United States.
As a newsman, he was known for his coverage of Richard Nixon, and the Army-McCarthy hearings in 1954.
Schoor would later become a chief correspondent for the CBS News Moscow bureau, during a time when such an assignment was remarkably difficult. While in the Soviet Union he landed a first sit-down interview with Soviet Premier Nikita Krushchev, which was recorded for television.
Schorr’s death was confirmed on Friday. He died at a Washington hospital; suffering a short illness.
In his later years he had been a familiar voice on National Public Radio.
