Lost hikers rescued from Palm Springs mountain

Lost hiker news from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department:

On Friday, June 4, at approximately 4:20 p.m., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Cabazon Station, responded to the Palm Springs Arial Tram regarding a report of three lost hikers.

The victims, William Beckwith Jr. and Sr. and Daniel Beckwith became dehydrated and lost near the top of the tram on the Skyline Trail. The subjects had cellular telephones and were able to call for help.

Park Rangers were able to locate the hikers, but due to health problems they were unable to hike them out. The Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit responded to the location and was able to escort the lost hikers to the Tram Station without incident.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department would like to remind hiking enthusiasts that severe weather conditions are present this time of year in the local mountain areas and the deserts.
