The Memorial Day Weekend Avoid the 30 – DUI Campaign has concluded with the deployment of seven Sobriety Checkpoints, 20 special DUI Saturation Patrols and officers on routine patrol focusing special attention towards the impaired driver.
From 12:01 a.m. Friday, May 28, through Midnight Monday, May 31, officers representing 30 county law enforcement agencies have arrested 162 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
In 2009, there were 169 arrests made in the same time period. There have been no DUI deaths reported, however;
there was a major injury DUI collision reported in the Hemet area.
Law enforcement officials will be conducting more Avoid Anti-DUI efforts throughout the county and region during the July 4th weekend and the 18 day campaign in August ending Labor Day weekend.
