Maurine Shearer “Wilma” 85, of Corona, California, passed away Monday, June 28, at Corona Regional Medical Center. Maurine was born on a farm near Grant City, Missouri on January 15, 1925 to Roxie Hastings Roudebush Faubion and Jessie Verne Faubion.

Maurine attended country schools near Blockton and graduated from Blockton High School in May of 1942. She was united in marriage to John David Shearer of Blockton in 1942. She and John lived in Des Moines where she worked at Allied Mutual.

In 1944 they moved to Oakland, California, where John was stationed in the Navy. In 1945 they moved to San Diego, CA. The move to California became permanent and Maurine worked until retirement in 1985 for Boeing Aircraft/Rockwell.

Maurine was known for her intelligence and humor. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends and family. Her cockatiel, Jackie, was a special part of her life for many years and she taught him to say many phrases.

Preceding Maurine in death were her husband, John David; her parents, and a brother, Robert, who was killed in WWII.

Surviving her is her sister, Kathleen Drake of Blockton, Iowa; nephews, Terry (Donna) Henson also of Blockton and Bob (Linda) Henson of Clive, Iowa; and numerous great and great-great-nieces, nephews and friends and the residents of Village Home Estates, where she lived for 35 years, were like family.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 12pm in the Villa Grove Mobile Home Park clubhouse, 1001 Roseglen Way, Corona, CA. Pastor Scott Marcun will conduct graveside services at Rosehill Cemetery in Blockton, Iowa at a later date. Arrangements Entrusted To: Thomas Miller Mortuary (951) 737-3244.
