DUI news update from the Riverside Police Department:
DUI arrests are up, and DUI fatalities are down, according to the police department.
The Memorial Day Weekend DUI enforcement effort has resulted in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 30 DUI deployments through the first 48 hours of the campaign in Riverside County.
From 12:01 a.m. Friday May 28, through Midnight Saturday May 29, officers representing 30 county law enforcement agencies have arrested 47 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. There have been no DUI deaths
DUI arrest data collection will continue through midnight Monday, May 31, 2010. Law enforcement officials are continuing DUI efforts throughout the county and region. Additionally, all CHP Areas throughout the state have all available officers patrolling freeways and county roads throughout the weekend.
For Sunday, May 30th and Monday, May 31st, extra DUI Saturation Patrols will be deployed in the cities of Blythe, Coachella, Corona, Lake Elsinore, Moreno Valley, and Palm Desert. Police, Sheriff and the CHP encourage all motorists to help make your community safer: Report Drunk Drivers – Call 911!
