Riverside International Film Festival news:
Actresses Ann Rutherford and Anne Jeffreys will be honored at the Riverside International Film Festival’s (RIFF) Opening Night Gala Champagne Reception at The Fox Performing Arts Center. The event is being held in conjunction with the Riverside Fox Foundation on Friday April 16, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.
Ann Rutherford will receive a joint Riverside Fox Foundation – RIFF Distinguished Artist Award. Ms. Rutherford appeared as Carreen O’Hara in Gone with the Wind and is one of only two surviving cast members. The Fox Theater was the first venue to preview this classic film in 1939. “Given the history of the Fox Theater and Gone with the Wind, the Fox is the perfect venue to honor Ms. Rutherford,” said Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge.
Anne Jeffreys will be presented with RIFF’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her many years of on screen excellence. Ms. Jeffreys’ career included appearances in Broadway musicals, hit television shows, and major motion pictures spanning four decades. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1501 Vine Street.
“RIFF is honored and excited to be in the presence of such Hollywood royalty,” said RIFF President Dr. Harki Dhillon. “The Opening Night Gala Champagne Reception is the perfect setting for kicking off ten days of world-class international feature films, shorts, and documentaries.”
A special movie screening at 8:00 p.m. at UltraStar Cinemas in the University Village will follow the Gala at the Fox. Admission to the Gala Champagne Reception and movie screening is $50/per person or $100/couple. Reservations are requested by April 10 and can be made by calling (951) 781-8236.
