Joice Faith Beenken, of Sun City, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2010 at Menifee Valley Medical Center. Joice was born in Buffalo Center, Iowa, August 5, 1934, to Herman and Grace Jansen.

She received her elementary and high school education locally and graduated from Buffalo Center High School. Additionally, she received further education in business at Mankato Business College, Mankato, Minnesota.

Joice was at one point in life, employed in the banking industry, as well as electronics. However, Joice went on to work 17 years for the Riverside County School District, working with children in the Food Services Department.

Joice loved to crochet and donate her efforts to nursing homes, The Vetera’sn Administration, and senior centers. She loved to work crossword puzzles, and loved to play dominos with her granddaughter Andrea, and watch her grandson Cory play baseball.

Joice is suvived by her husband Leroy. They met at the age of 10, and were later married June 10th, 1955, a wonderful, loving 54 years! She is survived by her eldest son Jeff, daughter Kim, and son Kevin. She has joined her granddaughter in Heaven, Andrea age 5. However, Joice is survived by 4 grandchildren, Cory, Allen, Kimberly and Aaron, as well as a great-grandson Adrian. Joice’s twin sister, Janice passed away 8 months ago, but is survived by her sister’s Lois and Violet.

The viewing will be held Monday, March 1st from 4 to 8pm at Miller-Jones Mortuary- Sun City. Funeral services will be held at 10am March 2nd at Miller-Jones Sun City.
