An American Idol contestant from the Inland Empire continues his run on the show.  Andrew Garcia is from Moreno Valley.  Garcia is 24.

The Vancouver Olympics closing ceremonies will be held this weekend.  In recent competition Canada won their 13th gold medal of the 2010.

The result left Canada untouchable in the gold medal count, an impressive achievement for a nation coming into these Games having failed to win a single title on home ground at the 1976 Summer Games and the 1988 Winter showpiece.

Dancing with the Stars continues to draw interest.  Carina Smironiff is making entertainment news, and not for her dancing.

The new movie “Cop Out” has opened in theaters, the movie stars Bruce Willis, and is billed in its trailers as “rude, crude and offensive.”

Looking ahead:

Local resident Don Daniels has been selected as the winner of the Riverside International Film Festival’s (RIFF) 2010 Poster Competition. His poster will be used for publicity, on the RIFF website, in postcards, and on the RIFF program.

The 8th annual RIFF launches April 16 and continues through April 25, 2010. The best of international and independent features, documentaries, and shorts will be shown at UltraStar Cinemas in the University Village at 1201 University Avenue, Riverside, CA, 92507.
