Nora Marlow Miller passed away Saturday September 26, of cause’s incident to age, at her home in Grand Terrace, CA. She was born January 10, 1910 on the family farm at Wapello, north of Blackfoot, Idaho.
Nora was the fifth of nine children born to Sarah Harriet and Walton Marlow. Nora married Earl Miller from Logan, Utah December 8, 1928. Earl was a successful beekeeper and honey packer with operations in Idaho and Wyoming. Earl passed away in 1988.
Nora maintained an active and independent lifestyle. She attended church each Sunday, drove herself to her water aerobics class twice a week and remained active in the lives of her children and grand children.
Nora is survived by children Neil and wife Mary (Stott) Miller, of Blackfoot, Karen Miller Batten and husband Mike, of Blackfoot, Gary and wife Sherri (Higbee) Miller, of Redlands, CA, two sisters, Elizabeth McEntee and Lorraine Good of Southern California.
She is also survived by 13 grand children, 25 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
After marrying Earl Miller, Nora returned to high school, after graduation, to continue studying bookkeeping and she maintained the books for the family business. Nora was very athletic, a good swimmer and tennis player.
She also loved the community of Blackfoot and was active in the local service organizations, including the Current Events Club which provided many improvements to the community. Earl retired in 1957 and the family moved to Southern California.
Nora attended San Bernardino Junior College where she studied and became a Librarian and helped local schools establish federal funding programs for their libraries. Nora’s family, home, and her rose garden were her passions. She loved to provide roses to her family, friends and her church.
Until last year Nora maintained a stand of 20 orange, lemon and lime tress growing next to her home. Karen and Gary finished their education in California. Gary has an Architecture practice in Redlands, CA. and Karen returned to Idaho and owns Idaho High Plains Real Estate Co. Neil has retired from Miller Honey Farms.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 1st from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Colton Funeral Home, 1275 N. LaCadena Dr., Colton, CA. 92324. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM, at the LDS Colton 1st Ward chapel, 250 E. Laurel St. Colton, CA 92324. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your local Hospice.
