The concert promoter AEG has released promotional video from rehearsals for Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ tour. it’s presumed many of the scenes were shot in Los Angeles. The eight-minute video is the first glimpse into what the show may have looked like.

Michael Jackson’s family will hold a public viewing on Friday at his Neverland Ranch near Santa Barbara. The family will then hold a private service on Sunday, according to CNN; a memorial is also scheduled for the Jackson’s hometown of Gary, Ind., on July 10, but it’s not clear if his body will be taken to Indiana.

There’s still no word on where or when Jackson will be buried.

The singer died of apparent cardiac arrest on Thursday.

InstantRiverside.com’s Cathy Maestri wrote about Jackson’s death in a Vox Pop column,  The day the ’70s died‘:

Michael Jackson, we frequently declared, would have been put away long ago if he weren’t rich and famous.

It was all just plain sad. Heartbreaking, when you go back and look at the adorable little boy with the magical voice in those old Jackson 5 videos. Those are still the ones we love.

Jackson, at 50, was getting ready for his big comeback, 50 shows in London. Heaven knows he needed the money; the adoration and brisk ticket sales, even in a struggling economy, must have been gratifying. It’s a shame he never got to take the stage. Certainly his most recent work hadn’t been terribly relevant, but he was still recognized as a huge influence on music and dance.
