
Ford and General Motors rolled out new incentive plans aimed at lifting U.S. auto sales from depths not seen in roughly three decades. Both companies said they will cover customer car payments on a limited basis in the result of job loss. U.S. stocks were on their way to their first gain in three sessions despite a round of mostly downbeat economic reports. Conway Gittens reports from New York.
